Monday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Readings: Acts 14:5-18 / John 14:21-26

The crippled man in today’s first reading was not healed by magic.

Paul and Barnabas made that clear, pointing the people who wanted to worship them away from themselves and toward the living God, who acts in our lives, not through magic or manipulation, but through love and faith.

Jesus tells us today that to love Him is to keep His word.

Love is the heart of the Law, the New Law of grace, which is written not on tablets of stone, but on hearts renewed by the Holy Spirit.

And love shows itself acts of fidelity, courage, prayer, and communion.

Here, now, at this Holy Mass, God comes to dwell with us, as He promised, so that we may dwell in His love.

As we receive Him today, let’s pray for the grace to share that love with others, so that they, too, may experience His saving power, always, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

El hombre paralítico no fue sanado por alguna brujería.

Pablo y Bernabé lo dejaron muy claro a la gente que pensaban que eran brujos, o incluso dioses, desviando la atención de sí mismos y señalando al Dios vivo, que actúa en nuestras vidas no con magia ni cualquiera manipulación, sino con amor y fe.

Y Jesús nos dice hoy que amarle es guardar su palabra.

El amor es el corazón de la Ley, la Nueva Ley de la gracia, escrita no en tablas de piedra, sino en corazones renovados por el Espíritu Santo.

Y ese amor se muestra en la fidelidad, la valentía, la oración y la comunión.

Aquí, ahora, en esta Santa Misa, Dios viene a habitar con nosotros, como lo prometió, para que nosotros habitemos en su amor.

Al recibirlo hoy, pidamos la gracia de compartir ese amor con los demás, para que ellos también conozcan su poder salvador, ahora y siempre, y por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.
